The Rules:
1. Copy and place the Beautiful Blogger Award in your post.
2. Thank the person that nominated you and link back to their blog
3. Tell 7 things about yourself.
4. Nominate 7 fellow Bloggers, tell them by posting a comment on their Blog.
- I was born on Christmas Day. The nuns were singing Christmas carols in the lobby of the hospital, and hence my name, Carole. Thanks, Mom and Dad!
- My twin sisters were born on Mothers' Day. We're a holiday sort of family. I was six at the time, making doll clothes with a friend on her porch, when I heard the news. The moment is indelible in my memory. In a happy synchronicity, today is their birthday! Happy Birthday, Maggee and Patricia!
- When I was ten, I played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. My long braids no doubt got me the part.
- I started college as a physics major. When I found out that all my classes were with truly rowdy engineering students, and that I was the only girl, I transferred to the calmer but still geeky mathematics department, where there was actually one other girl!
- I'm a nomad. I've never lived in the same place for more than three years, mostly way less, except from age 11 to 17 in my parents' house. And I've never been in the military! Last count, something like 40 homes, 7 states, 3 countries. Yup. I'm a nomad.
- If you get me started talking about education, prepare yourself for a long, passionate rant. I've taught high school and university in the US and Canada for enough years to have strong opinions. Give me free rein and a big whack of money, and I'll fix things, US Department of Education! Watch out.
- My soul mate has four paws and a heart bigger than the sun! Gemma has been my companion for twelve years. She guards me, nourishes me, and keeps me sane! Well, mostly sane.

Wow! That's a lot of moving. You must make friends easily.
Thanks for stopping by, Maria!
DeleteThe pup in your photo looks adorable (from what I can see in the teeny photo!). Gemma is my sweetie, all right! She's older now, but still gorgeous!
Yes, there's one advantage of all that moving, making new friends. Another advantage is simplicity. After awhile, I just stopped moving everything. A disadvantage is no roots. My only roots are the people I love!
Have you moved a lot too?
Hug,
Carole
Hi Maria,
DeleteJust visited your other two blogs! Awesome. Your covers are GORGEOUS! I'll put a link on my FB page. Quite a few authors hang out there.
Carole
Thanks for mentioning Book Cover Diva!
DeleteRe: my dog
That's Chelly. She's gone now, but she was my baby and I couldn't bring myself to change my author photo after she passed. Nothing else describes me better than that photo.
Re: moving
Not a lot, but far. I learned to live without family nearby.
No problem on the mentions, Maria. I really like your covers! I Google+ed the page too.
DeleteChelly is adorable! I saw the bigger photo on your blogger page. I'm so sorry she's gone. I'm facing that pretty soon with Gemma, and it's hard (understatement).
My kids are in Chicago and Alabama, sisters in northern California, and I'm in central Mexico, so I know what you mean. Thank heavens for cell phones and Skype!
Have a great evening! I'm off to bed. Thanks again for stopping by,
Carole
